Look Outside
Feeling overwhelmed by worries or thoughts? Find a window with a breathtaking view and immerse yourself in this exercise.
Stand or sit comfortably and look outside. What can you see? Trees, a road, the sky? Look left, right, and then up and down to see everything in your view. Notice the colors, the textures, and any patterns. Be aware of how many different shapes you can see just in this tiny window of the world. It's that simple.
Pay attention to the space above the horizon, and take a deep breath. Look out past the horizon and up to the sky. Is there anything moving? Find the fastest-moving object in your vision. Now, find the slowest. Be aware that they are moving and that you are still.
Choose a natural object and focus on watching it for a moment or two. This could be a plant, flower, bird, or even the clouds. For instance, you could focus on how a leaf sways in the wind or how a bird flies across the sky. Look at it as if you are seeing it for the first time. Notice its shape, its weight, where it touches, and surrounding objects. Focus on the intricate details of the object. Just relax into watching it for as long as your concentration allows.
Now, take a deep breath in and out. You have given your thoughts a break and are ready to continue your day. Remember, the more you practice this exercise, the more you'll notice a reduction in worry and an improvement in focus. So, try to make it a part of your daily routine.
